Fall in New England

One of our favorite activities in Autumn is playing in the huge piles of leaves. As we learned in one of our library books, "Feet are not for Kicking," we can't kick people, but we can kick balls or leaves. Lucky for us, the girls are best friends and prefer hugging and tickling one another.

My First Blog

After several complaints about the lack of pictures and updates from loved ones, I have decided to enter the 2000's and become a blogger. I already made my first mistake by sending invitations out without having written something. How embarassing. Daddy is the resident photographer and will be responsible for picture postings, while I will take care of the editorials. Here is a quick update of what is going on with our little family... (pictures will follow)

July-- We find out we're pregnant with numero 3. Surprise! We have to wait until October to find out we're having a baby girl. The girls are so excited.

August-- The girls turned 2 and it just gets better and better. They sing, dance, kiss, hug, jump and run! I am continually amazed at how quickly they are growing up. They don't even seem like toddlers. They like reading books, watching Cinderella the movie, playing baby dolls and potato heads, and love dancing and singing while Daddy plays the guitar. We moved into a new place with 3 bedrooms, a yard, and more importantly... a washer and dryer. The place was "a bit dirty" when we moved in, so my sweet sister flew out to help me paint and clean (thanks to mom and dad for flying her out). In August, I was called as the president of our women's organization at church because I looked like I had too much on my hands. Daddy began his last year of his doctoral program (yipee) and ended his summer job on a big high-- two fat bonuses and a promotion and pay increase. They were sorry to see him go (except the guy who got the promotion and pay increase) and told him he was welcome back anytime. Daddy's parents and sister Karen paid us a visit, and we put them to work helping us on the house. Now, that's what I call good house guests! Uncle Michael & Chelsea also came out to see us, and we joined them in their site-seeing adventure at Plymouth Rock.

September-- I know I spent a lot of time unpacking and organizing from the move, but other than that, the month was a blur. If anyone can remember what we did... send me an email. I did start attending these food storage classes, where you learn how to cook delicious meals from stored items (such as wheat, powdered milk, canned veggies, etc). It inspired me to make my own bread... but that was in October.

October-- Busy month--- As a family, we went apple picking (but forgot the CF card in the camera, so no pictures), and went to a pumpkin patch where the girls picked their own pumpkins. I received a Bosch for my birthday and started making bread. I also made my own yogurt and cream cheese from powdered milk. I feel like a domestic goddess, which I'm sure comes as a shock to anyone who knew me growing up. Move ovah Martha! Grandma & Papa came to visit with Uncle Michael for a weekend and Grandma made lovely curtains to cover ugly food storage shelves. But the highlight of the month was when Daddy received a call to play the Star Spangled Banner for the World Series, under the direction of Maestro John Williams himself (enter Star Wars music). Not only did he get paid to play, but he also got a ticket to the opening game. It's true... you can't live out here and not become a Sox fan. Even I watched baseball! The girls had their first trick or treating experience at the church Trunk or Treat. They were confused at the first two cars, but quickly got the hang of it. Lady dressed as an elephant and Bell was a tiger.
