4 weeks!

Baby E reached her due date this week. She slept one night from 11:30 to 6:30am, with just a minor cry somewhere in between (I was too tired to look at the clock). Her normal night feeding schedule is 8, 11, 2 and 5. Sometimes she'll go four hours fromm 11 to 3 and 3 to 7

Love those chubby cheeks!

And her signature look... the tongue.

Name Calling

After the decree that naughty words and name calling would be met with a bar of soap to the mouth... the following was overheard:

Bell: You're a pear!
Lady: You're a pillow!
Bell: Well, you're a banana!

Meanwhile, Daddy is laughing himself silly. I'm telling you, these girls have the makings to become successful attorneys... or politicians (yikes)... finding loopholes where they may.

Things they say...

After a morning of several food requests and feeling more like a short-order cook than any thing else, the following dialogue ensued:

Me: The kitchen is closed!
Bell: Mom, the kitchen can't be closed... it doesn't have any doors

She had me there. I still didn't get any more food for anyone.

1 week

One week old and wearing the preemie outfit the twins came home in from the hospital. It fits. Baby E lost 14 ounces five days after birth. So Mommy has had to nurse, pump, and supplement with formula to make sure baby is getting 2 ounces AFTER nursing.

I can't believe how in love I am with this girl. She is such a sweet, sweet baby.

One week and half... went to the pediatrician and she gained 15 ounces in a week. She's now an ounce more than she was when she was born. I'm so glad the crazy eating schedule is working. Only issue now... she has gotten too lazy to nurse and just wants the bottle, which is fine if I want to spend the next year married to the breast pump, but I don't. If breast is best, why can't it be easier???

She's home!

Her sisters are in LOVE. They can't get enough time holding her (with adult supervision). Bell beams every time she sees Baby E.
Lady patiently holds the baby while Mom gets ready to feed her.

Gretters and this baby already have a bond. I am not kidding you when I tell you that the baby calms down when Gretters holds her. It is so sweet to see. Now, Gretters is having a bit of a hard time adjusting to competing for Mommy's attention, which she takes out on me with hitting and crying and tantrums, but she is very gentle with the baby. She wants to hold her and bring her toys. And she'll throw the baby's diapers away. Now, if she would give up her own diapers and use the toilet full-time, we'd be set!

First bath, and I can't figure out how to rotate, so you'll have to turn your head. The important part is that you can admire her rolls... double chin and all. I love it!

Announcing...

Baby E! Three and a half weeks early... but still 7 lbs 9 oz... yes, she would have been a BIG baby had she gone the full 40. 7 hours of labor from start to finish... two pushes, no tearing. Strawberry blonde hair with a bit of curl. She even has a double chin and some thighs. Finally, a chubby baby!

Already starting to show how she feels. She does not like her car seat. Don't worry, we tightened the straps before we put her in the car.

Birthday Girl

Gretters turn 2! For her big day we went to a large Trampoline place... with wall to wall tramps and a few bounce houses to boot. She's definitely a big girl now. So full of life and joy. Where has the time gone?

Big sister Lady shows how what goes up...

...must come down!

Sister Bell jumps with glee. Notice her purple ring matches her shirt? She also had a necklace on with several bells, which we had to convince her to take off so she wouldn't get smacked. It's tough choosing function over fashion!

Mommy kisses her "baby," wondering if she might have another baby that day...

After jumping for an hour on the trampolines, we headed over to Red Robin for dinner and birthday sundaes. Gretters goes right for the cherry.

Mmmm... icecream with sprinkles.

Big sisters also indulge in the birthday dessert. Mommy and Daddy did not... it is the New Year afterall and too early to give up on diets, just yet ;)
