There is something magical that happens in our area every year: The Princess Festival. For one week, girls between the ages of 4 and 11 come dressed in princess attire and through a series of tests, gain the attributes to become true princesses.

The adventure begins by creating your magical tools (wands and crowns). Here Bell paints a big pink wand to match her dress.

Lady decided to go as Snow White (a huge shocker considering what a big fan of Cinderella she is). She chose a green wand because "pink and purple wands don't match Snow White's dress." You'll notice the floating pearl necklace around her neck... one of the party favors of the festival (yes, those are real pearls... Mommy might have to borrow...)
After the girls armed themselves with their wands, they were ready to prove their bravery by rescuing several princesses. Here they confront the evil Malificent (yes, Lady was yelling at her).

They help Prince Phillip rescue Sleeping Beauty. Our little Sleeing Beautfy looks on admiringly.
They rescued Rapunzel from her captor.
And of course, they helped get Cinderella to the Ball so she could meet her Prince. Lady was so excited to meet her blue idol.

You couldn't have a Princess Festival without a Ball, and you can't attend a Royal Ball without knowing how to dance. Fortunately, the grateful princesses that had been rescued by the young princesses-in-training, held dance lessons and taught the girls how to cursey and twirl. Here Adelaide gracefully lifts her dress and curtsies to the floor.

Miss Bell wasted no time in finding Prince Phillip and danced the first waltz with him in front of all the others.
The best part of the festival (aside from watching my kids' reactions) is that all the proceeds go to financing a village in Kenya with micro-credit financing, clean water, vaccinations, school supplies, etc . To find out more visit www.inourownquietway.com

Gramma and Papa come to visit

Gramma and Papa came to visit us... the girls LOVE their Gramma with the Red Hair. It couldn't be because she spoils them? Nah... grandparents don't do that. We had lots of adventures... 1) Went to the Bean Museum 2) Had lunch at Zupos 3) Played Myster of the Abby 4) Went to the Princess Festival (more to come on that) 5) Took a "scenic" drive through Heber and got shakes at Grannies (ok...we might have missed the Creeper by a couple minutes) 6) Went to Jump On It 7) Went to Temple Square and watched the Joseph Smith movie (sniff, sniff) and ate a delicious dinner at the Lion House. Thanks for a great time Gramma and Papa!
Baby G loves all the attention
Here Gramma and Papa act as spectators while we visit Jump On It-- a warehouse full of wall to wall trampolines and other fun things, such as jump houses, slides, air hockey (I beat my dad 7-5, thank you very much) and much more.

Lady takes air and loves it

Bell gracefully jumps with calculated balance

Baby G enjoyed the tramps AND the toys

Here the girls go down the slide of one of the jump houses

As you can tell from their faces... they had a great time~

The Playground

Baby G is by far the most active of our three children. She has great physical ability and determination... oh and did I mention she's fearless? She will climb up or down any piece of equipment, even when she shouldn't (like through the monkey bars).

She loves teasing me by running as fast as she can to the part of the jungle gym that she knows she isn't supposed to be on... and as I frantically run to catch her she shrieks with glee. She's playing me and we both know it. How I love her adventurous spirit.

Swim Class

The girls graduated from their first swim class: Preschool Level 1. They can open their eyes under water and pick up a submerged item, they can float, kick, glide, and much more. The biggest obstacle, of course, was getting their faces and eyes wet... but they were very brave. There were four girls in the class and the most hilarious part is our girls had Disney princess bathing suits, the hispanic girl had a Dora the Explorer bathing suit, and their Chinese friend had a Hello Kitty bathing suit. Talk about international marketing! They start their second swim class next week and they are so excited.

Bugs

Lady: Squitos will suck your blood and bees will sting you
Bell: But flies are friendly
Me: Yes, but flies are dirty
Bell: Right! Flies eat poop.

Steak and Nipples

Lady: Mom, daddy's not just cooking meat, he's cooking nipples
Me: (I know he's grilling yellow squash and zuchinni... but what could she think... oh...) Those things are called mushrooms.

Our doctor at Children's Hospital congratulated us on using the proper words for the anatomy... but I guess you run the risk of embarassing moments when your kids know proper terminology, but not always in the correct context.

The girls thoughts on Funder (Thunder)

Lady: Funder is when the lightening comes down from the sky and there is blood
Bell: Funder is just a big storm
